A SpiceJet passenger on a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight had an unfortunate experience, being confined inside the aircraft’s restroom for the duration of the journey. The airline has since expressed regret, apologizing and purportedly providing a refund. The incident has sparked significant public discussion.
After the flight landed at Bengaluru airport, the passenger was released. The ground staff and engineers responded swiftly, opening the jammed toilet door. The incident occurred on a Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight, which was scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM, departed at 2:10 AM following a two-hour delay. A passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. They discovered the door was locked, which resulted in the mid-air problem.
Both the passenger and the crew struggled to open the door. In an effort to comfort the passenger, the crew penned a handwritten note, which was passed through a small opening in the door. The note requested the passenger to stay calm and remain seated in the toilet until the plane reached Bengaluru. The crew’s note photo went viral, with many people finding it humorous and mentioning the quality of the writing. The flight arrived in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. The airport’s engineers ultimately unlocked the door. The airline issued an apology for the situation.
