Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, met with officers in Delhi to commend them on the success of recent anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. He expressed the Modi government’s resolve to rid India of the Naxal menace. The operations were carried out by security forces in Chhattisgarh, with a key operation in the Abujhmad region from May 18 to May 21. A significant encounter on May 21 led to the death of 27 Naxals, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary, Basavaraju. The meeting recognized the efforts of several key officers, and was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and other high-ranking officials.
