A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru saw a passenger endure an unexpected experience, being trapped inside the plane’s toilet for the entire duration of the flight. The airline has offered an apology and compensation for the unsettling situation.
The passenger was eventually freed upon arrival at Bengaluru airport, with ground crew and engineers working to open the malfunctioning toilet door.
The flight experienced a two-hour delay, departing from Mumbai at 2:10 AM instead of the scheduled 10:55 PM.
The incident commenced after takeoff, when a passenger seated in 14D entered the restroom and was unable to exit. The door’s locking mechanism failed, leading to the mid-air predicament. The passenger and crew tried to unlock the door, but it was unsuccessful.
To address the situation, the crew slipped a handwritten note under the door, urging the passenger to remain seated until landing.
The note quickly circulated on social media, generating amusement among viewers, with some highlighting the neat handwriting.
The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, and an engineer was able to open the door. SpiceJet has expressed its regret and offered an apology for the passenger’s inconvenience.
