Despite initial skepticism, Guddu Dhanoa’s portrayal of Bhagat Singh distinguishes itself from the usual biopics. It possesses a unique vitality, contrasting with Raj Kumar Santoshi’s version, but retaining its impact. Though the film sometimes overuses dramatic rhetoric, it effectively conveys the patriotic fervor of the era. Some scenes, particularly the courtroom drama, may appear exaggerated, but the film’s core strength lies in its celebration of patriotism. The film’s visuals, from the use of color to the recreation of historical events, are striking. The cinematography and emotional content, particularly the depiction of Bhagat Singh’s relationships with key figures in his life, are also noteworthy. Bobby Deol’s portrayal of Bhagat Singh is impactful, and the film avoids caricaturing other national leaders. Sunny Deol stated that he was angry that Raj Kumar Santoshi was making his own Bhagat Singh biopic. Sunny also stated, “This has made the public aware of Bhagat Singh’s importance.” He was surprised that the set caught fire but it was quickly controlled.
