
A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru experienced an unexpected turn of events when a passenger was stuck inside the aircraft’s lavatory for the complete duration of the flight. The airline has issued an apology to the passenger and offered a refund. The event has become a talking point.
The passenger was released after landing at Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers acted rapidly to force open the toilet door, which had locked mid-flight.
The event is said to have happened on Monday night, when the Mumbai-Bengaluru flight took off from the airport after a 2-hour delay. The flight took off at 2.10 AM instead of 10.55 PM.
A passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after take off. To their shock, they could not get out as the door lock jammed, causing the unusual situation.
As the passenger tried to get out, the crew also attempted to unlock it, but the efforts were unsuccessful. The crew then decided to pass a handwritten note through the gap in the toilet door, instructing the passenger to remain seated on the toilet seat until the flight landed in Bengaluru.
The note was shared on social media, causing a lot of reactions. The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3.45 AM. The engineers then opened the door.
The airline expressed regret for the incident and also apologized to the passenger for the inconvenience.
