In a stunning performance, Coco Gauff has clinched her first French Open women’s singles title. Gauff, at 21 years old, defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a closely contested final on Court Philippe-Chatrier. The final score was 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4. This victory is a major achievement for Gauff, who previously reached the French Open final in 2022. The win also marks Gauff’s second Grand Slam title, following her US Open victory in 2023, where she also triumphed over Sabalenka. The French Open win also marked Gauff’s first title on clay this season, adding another layer of significance to her accomplishment, having lost in the finals of both the Rome and Madrid Opens earlier in the year.
