Naxalites detonated an IED in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, leading to the death of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to several other police officers. The blast took place near Dondra village, where the police were conducting a patrol related to a bandh call issued by the CPI(M). The injured officers were taken to Konta hospital. ASP Giripunje, who sustained critical injuries, passed away during treatment. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Shamra acknowledged the loss, highlighting the ASP’s bravery and service. This incident is a testament to the ongoing challenges of countering Naxal activities in Chhattisgarh, where security forces face constant threats. The area is now under extensive search operations.
