Amidst ongoing protests in Los Angeles stemming from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, President Donald Trump stated his commitment to restoring order and ‘setting Los Angeles free’. He has directed Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi to take all necessary actions to ‘liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion’ and halt what he described as ‘Migrant riots.’ The protests were triggered by the arrest of numerous undocumented immigrants by ICE agents. Trump’s response included the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops. The former president’s statements portrayed the city as overrun by ‘Illegal Aliens and Criminals.’ Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom both criticized Trump’s approach, with Newsom calling it ‘purposefully inflammatory’.
