Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped an accident on Saturday morning when a truck collided with his convoy in Vaishali, Bihar. The incident happened near Goraul while Yadav was returning to Patna from Madhepura after attending a political event.
The convoy had stopped for a short break at around 12:30 AM on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway for a tea break. While Tejashwi Yadav was a few meters away, having tea, a speeding truck crashed into the vehicles of his security detail. Thankfully, his personal vehicle was not directly hit, and he remained unharmed.
Three security personnel were injured in the collision and were quickly taken to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav visited the injured officials to check on their well-being after the accident. According to reports, the injured officials sustained minor fractures and bruises but are now in stable condition.
The truck driver was immediately arrested, and the truck was seized by the local police. The authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest that the driver might have been speeding or fatigued, although the investigation aims to ascertain the precise cause.
This incident has renewed concerns about the safety of political figures traveling long distances on Bihar’s roads, especially during the night. RJD supporters expressed their relief on social media while also emphasizing the need for improved road safety and enforcement of traffic regulations. Party leaders have called for a thorough investigation into VIP security protocols, particularly for travel at night or in adverse conditions.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political life, has resumed his normal activities and reassured the public that he is safe and well.
