Shillong: The East Khasi Hills Police have revealed new details in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, naming Raj Kushwaha as the primary instigator. Police Superintendent Vivek Syiem confirmed Sonam’s role in the plot. The SP explained that the plan involved three friends, including Raj’s cousin, and was not a contract killing; the motive was friendship. The planning began in February when they were in Indore, focusing on Sonam’s disappearance. They initially planned the murder in Guwahati before shifting the location to Shillong. The police have made arrests, and investigations are ongoing. The court has remanded Sonam Raghuvanshi and four others to eight days of police custody. Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was found in a gorge near Sohra, close to Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, on June 2. Sonam Raghuvanshi, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand are all accused of the crime. Raja and Sonam, residents of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Sonam was found near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road.
