
Sunjay Kapur, the industrialist and ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor, has passed away in the United Kingdom at 53. Reports suggest he died from a heart attack while playing polo. His X post from June 9 has gained significant attention following his death, as it reflected on the brevity of life.
The post quoted, ‘Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the ‘what ifs’ to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the ‘why nots’.’ The caption accompanying the quote read, ‘Progress demands bold choices, not perfect conditions.’
In the hours leading up to his death, Sunjay Kapur had also posted about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, expressing his condolences: ‘Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash.’
Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar and a notable figure in the automotive industry. He also held the position of Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, providing oversight for various states and union territories.
Kapur’s personal life included an initial marriage to Nandita Mahtani, followed by a marriage to Karisma Kapoor, with whom he had two children. They divorced in 2016. He later married model Priya Sachdev. Following his passing, numerous celebrities, including Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Malaika Arora, visited Karisma Kapoor’s residence in Mumbai.
