Authorities in Dhanbad, under the jurisdiction of Nirsa sub-division, have taken decisive action against the illegal alcohol trade in Chirkunda and Kalubathan. A combined police raid, carried out late Wednesday, resulted in a substantial seizure of both Indian-made and imported liquor. Two individuals connected to the illicit liquor business were arrested during the operation. Further raids are underway to locate and apprehend additional suspects who evaded capture. At a press conference held on Thursday at the Maithon office, Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla disclosed the details of the crackdown. The SDPO explained that the raids were conducted under the supervision of senior police officials, targeting the unlawful manufacturing and distribution of alcohol. As part of this effort, a large quantity of alcohol was recovered during a raid at Raghunath Tudu’s residence in Kathardiha village, located in the Kalubathan OP area. Mangal Tudu, a liquor vendor, was arrested at the scene and provided information on other accomplices during interrogation. The police are actively investigating these leads. In a separate incident within the Chirkunda police station area, a raid at a hotel near the Jhundkundar Phatak vegetable market led to the seizure of a consignment of both Indian-made and foreign liquor. The hotel operator attempted to escape but was apprehended by the police. Both individuals who were arrested have been booked and placed in judicial custody. The SDPO confirmed that these operations will continue in the interest of curtailing illegal liquor trade.
