Saurabh Bharadwaj, a prominent AAP leader and Delhi State President, has accused the BJP of creating widespread suffering among Delhi residents. He cited a 10.5% hike in Power Purchase Adjustment Charges (PPAC), the continuation of pension charges on electricity bills, and long power outages as evidence of the BJP’s failures. According to Bharadwaj, the BJP has allegedly inflicted hardships on every section of society since taking power in Delhi. He referenced fee increases, demolitions, and rising electricity bills. During a press conference, Bharadwaj referred to a BJP event from July 2024 where BJP leaders strongly criticized an 8% PPAC hike by the then Delhi government, alleging corruption. Bharadwaj questioned why the current 10.5% hike is justified. He also criticized the BJP’s stance on pension charges in electricity bills, highlighting that they had previously declared them unjustified. He noted that these charges remain in place despite the BJP being in power. Bharadwaj mentioned severe power cuts, including a 14-hour blackout in Chhatarpur, and the growing need for inverters even in affluent areas. He concluded by stating that the BJP government has allegedly made electricity unaffordable, has allowed regular power outages, and continues to collect unjust pension charges.
