The area near the Bundu-Namkum border, close to Ranchi, is in a state of alarm due to the potential presence of a tiger or leopard in the Heso forest, within the Lali Panchayat. The incident, reported on Monday, involved the killing of three cattle by a wild animal while they were grazing. Aarti Kujur, a local representative, along with the forest department, responded to the scene to investigate.
Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of a tiger or similar predator, with claw marks and footprints found at the site, and evidence of attacks on the cattle. The villagers are deeply concerned. Aarti Kujur mentioned that villagers heard animal roars during the night, potentially connected to the attacks. She has advised caution to residents and the forest department has increased patrols. Locals are advised to avoid the forest after dark and to keep their livestock together during grazing hours.
