In a heartbreaking event, five individuals drowned in the Godavari River in Telangana’s Nirmal district while taking a holy bath in Basar. The victims, who were residents of Chintal in Hyderabad, were part of a larger group that had travelled from Rajasthan. Witnesses described how the bathers underestimated the depth of the river, leading to the tragedy. The incident occurred despite the best efforts of local residents who attempted to provide assistance. The bodies have been taken to the government hospital in Bhainsa. Concurrently, in Maharashtra, an old bridge over the Indrayani River near Kundamala village in Pune district collapsed, triggering a major rescue operation. Emergency teams are working to locate and rescue those potentially trapped in the debris.
