Yashasvi Jaiswal, the promising young talent in Indian cricket, is on the verge of rewriting the record books. Following his debut in 2023, Jaiswal’s consistent performance has brought him near to the 2000-run mark in Test cricket. Requiring just 202 more runs, he stands a chance to become the fastest Indian batsman to achieve this feat. Currently, Jaiswal’s stats include 1798 runs in 19 Test matches (36 innings) at an average of 52.88, comprising four centuries and ten half-centuries. If he manages to reach the 2000-run milestone within his next three innings, he would surpass the previous record held by Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, who reached the mark in 40 innings. The forthcoming Test series in England, starting June 20, will offer a tough challenge for Jaiswal due to the weather and pitch conditions. Despite a modest showing in warm-up matches with a single half-century, his previous form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he scored 391 runs with an average of 43.44, will be a huge confidence booster.
