The Chhattisgarh government, under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, held a cabinet meeting at the CM House in Raipur. The meeting led to important decisions, particularly regarding the families of police officers killed in action. The cabinet decided to amend clause 13 (3) of the consolidated revised instructions-2013, a directive that addresses compassionate appointments. This amendment means that any suitable family member (man or woman) of a police officer who died in a Naxalite incident can be appointed to a position in any department within any district or division of the state, based on the family’s preference. This change contrasts with earlier rules that typically restricted appointments to the same department where the deceased officer had worked.
