
Finance Minister OP Choudhary of Chhattisgarh has announced that the upcoming 11th International Yoga Day will be celebrated globally on June 21, 2025, focusing on the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. He attributed the rise of yoga’s global influence to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The yoga-based economy in India has flourished, surpassing ₹20,000 crore, and over 100,000 certified yoga instructors are actively teaching yoga across 190 countries. Choudhary presented data reflecting yoga’s integration into daily life for many Indians. Highlighting the health benefits of yoga, he underscored its significance in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He explained the scientific relevance of celebrating Yoga Day on the longest day, associated with the beginning of Dakshinayan, which is believed to impact immunity. The Finance Minister traced the origins of yoga to ancient Indian traditions, emphasizing its role in promoting holistic well-being. The proposal for International Yoga Day, championed by PM Modi, was unanimously approved by the UN General Assembly, garnering the support of 175 nations. BJP leaders, including Sanjay Srivastava, reinforced the vital role of yoga in contemporary lifestyles, highlighting the party’s involvement in organizing Yoga Day events.
