A dramatic event in Darbhanga district saw a judge order the arrest of a lawyer after the lawyer was caught providing false information to the court. The lawyer, Amber Imam Hashmi, is a respected figure in the criminal law field in Darbhanga.
Hashmi was an accused in a decades-old murder case involving three other individuals. The hearing for this case was scheduled at the court of ADJ III Suman Kumar Diwakar. Hashmi submitted a form to the court, stating he was out of the district and thus unavailable.
Unexpectedly, the situation changed when Hashmi was seen in the same court, arguing in another case. Judge Diwakar, upon observing the lawyer, who had claimed to be away, in the courtroom, questioned his presence and promptly ordered his arrest, causing significant disruption.
Following the judge’s instructions, police took Hashmi into custody. Another lawyer, Sushil Kumar Chaudhary, who was with Hashmi at the time, was also taken to the Laheriasarai police station. Reports indicate a physical clash between police officers and lawyers, including damage to Chaudhary’s clothing. However, there are reports that Chaudhary was later released.
