A ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran has been brokered, with Qatar playing a crucial role in securing Iran’s approval. Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, facilitated the agreement by directly engaging with Iranian officials. This followed a request from former US President Donald Trump to Qatar’s Emir, who indicated Israel’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal.
The developments occurred shortly after Iran launched missile strikes on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq. Trump subsequently announced a ‘complete and total’ ceasefire on social media, set to commence within hours. He detailed the ceasefire protocol, with Iran initiating it, followed by Israel, and urged both sides to remain peaceful. Trump praised both nations for ending the conflict, which he termed ‘The 12 Day War’.
The conflict began with Israeli airstrikes on Iranian sites and led to Iran’s counterattacks. The situation escalated further with US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, prompting Iran’s missile attacks on US military bases.
