
At an event hosted by the Mahavirayatan Foundation in Mumbai, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed the importance of ‘Samvaad Se Samadhaan – Ek Paricharcha’ or ‘Dialogue for Resolution – A Discussion.’ He stressed the need for dialogue, peace, and democratic values to address current global challenges. Birla emphasized the continuing significance of Lord Mahavir’s teachings and India’s identity as the mother of democracy, particularly as India marked 75 years of its Constitution. He observed that the principles of non-violence, compassion, and self-discipline promoted by Lord Mahavir continue to resonate. Birla emphasized that these teachings promote harmony, introspection, and ethical conduct. Addressing contemporary issues, Birla stated that in a world of conflict, dialogue is paramount. He also addressed India’s long-standing democratic history. He highlighted that India’s democratic institutions are built on discussion and cooperation. Birla affirmed that India exemplifies successful democracy. He called for recognition of India’s democratic legacy and the wisdom of spiritual leaders like Lord Mahavir, which both emphasize dialogue over discord and compassion over conflict.
