The trailer of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has garnered negative reactions online following the appearance of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Diljit Dosanjh revealed on Instagram that the film will only be released in overseas territories. The negative response stems from the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, exacerbated by events such as the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
Social media users have criticized both Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s production for casting Hania Aamir and proceeding with the film’s release despite the strained relations. One Reddit user posted, “Never spoke a word during the war…now we know why…I liked him but the opinion is now changing highly.” Another netizen stated, “You can’t expect anything better from Diljit. He has always been very clear about his ideologies.” Another Reddit user wrote, “Disgusted by him. What a shameless person he is.”
It’s important to note that the filming of ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ reportedly concluded before the Pahalgam incident. Consequently, the film is not slated for release in India and is currently planned for overseas distribution only.
Hania Aamir previously became entangled in a controversy after a fabricated post, purportedly containing her comments on the Pahalgam attack, circulated widely on social media. She promptly clarified her position, stating, “Recently, a statement has been falsely attributed to me and is being widely circulated on social media. I want to address this directly: I did not make this statement, and I do not endorse or align with the words being linked to me. It is entirely fabricated and misrepresents who I am and what I believe.”
She further added, “That being said, this is a deeply sensitive and emotional time. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families affected by the recent tragedy. Pain like this is real, and it deserves empathy, not politicisation. In times like these, it’s easy to let emotions cloud our judgment, but we must remember: the actions of extremists do not represent an entire nation or its people. Assigning blame without proof only deepens divides and distracts from the real need for compassion, justice, and healing.”
The film features Sonam Bajwa in the lead role alongside Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi.
