The allure of the mango is undeniable, yet its high sugar content poses a challenge for diabetic individuals. In response, the Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) is undertaking research to address this concern. The focus is on identifying and developing mango varieties with a low glycemic index, allowing those with diabetes to savor the taste of mangoes without the associated health risks. HOD of the Fruit Department, Ruby Rani, emphasized that while a completely sugar-free mango is unrealistic, a variety with significantly reduced sugar content and a low glycemic index is achievable.
