
Law enforcement officials in Lohardaga have arrested two members of the PLFI, a proscribed Naxalite group, while they were in the process of collecting extortion money. The Kuru police station was responsible for the arrests. The Lohardaga SP, Sadiq Anwar Rizvi, reported that the PLFI had been demanding money from a contractor involved in a culvert construction project in the Lawagai area. The contractor was threatened with violence and property damage if they refused to pay. A recent incident involved an attempt to set fire to construction vehicles, followed by the distribution of posters attributed to the PLFI. The police organized a sting operation, leading to the capture of the naxalites with 30,000 rupees. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Nikhil Munda (alias Pintoo) and Sunil Sanga, both residents of Ghaghra village in the Khunti district. The Lohardaga police are actively pursuing the leaders and other members of the PLFI group.
