The new members will have the opportunity to participate in the Oscar voting process. The Academy’s announcement on June 26 included names such as Ariana Grande, Jason Momoa, and other Indian professionals like Karan Mally and Payal Kapadia. The invitation list also extends to industry figures like Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang welcomed the new members, recognizing their impact on filmmaking. If all accept, the Academy’s membership will surpass 11,000, with over 10,000 voting members. The 98th Academy Awards will be held on March 15, 2026, with anticipated changes to the rules and categories.
