Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Hul Diwas by paying respects to the heroes of the Santhal Revolution. He honored the contributions of Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, and Phoolo-Jhano, who bravely resisted foreign rule. Modi, through a social media post, emphasized the tribal community’s courage and the significance of the Santhal Revolution. He paid tribute to the revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives, highlighting their lasting inspiration. Hul Kranti Diwas is observed nationwide on June 30 to commemorate the brave fighters against British rule. This day marks the 1855 revolt, in which Sidhu-Kanho and Chand-Bhairav led a significant tribal uprising against exploitative practices. Furthermore, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticized the Jharkhand government for reportedly attacking the descendants of Sido Kano on Hul Diwas. He accused the government of targeting civilians and raised questions about their respect for tribal families who played a key role in India’s independence.
