
Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in Kandhamal district, Odisha, by eliminating two Maoists during a gun battle. The deceased Maoists were identified as Manku, an ACM cadre, and Chandan, both of whom were active members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist). The encounter took place around noon when the District Voluntary Force (DVF) launched a special operation based on intelligence gathered. Following the gunfight, the bodies of Manku and Chandan were recovered. A variety of Maoist materials, including a rifle, revolver, ammunition, a walkie-talkie, and batteries, were also recovered from the site. The DVF is currently conducting an extensive search operation to find any insurgents who may have escaped the encounter.
