The educational landscape in Chhattisgarh is highlighted by a peculiar situation at a government school in the Dhamtari district. The school, situated in Nathukonha, caters to a mere three students, with a headmaster and a supporting teacher employed to educate them. The financial burden on the education department is significant, with annual spending reaching lakhs of rupees to keep the school operational.
Although the school provides education from first to fifth grade, only three children attend, all in the first grade. The two teachers are compensated with an annual budget of approximately 10 to 12 lakh rupees. The expenditure also covers school maintenance, educational resources, the mid-day meal program, and essential services such as electricity and water.
