An Odisha Vigilance raid has resulted in the arrest of Dayanidhi Bagh, the Joint Director of Soil Conservation & Watershed Development, Bhubaneswar. The raid uncovered a significant accumulation of wealth, including two buildings, a 3-BHK flat, 312 grams of gold, bank deposits of over Rs 58 lakh, and a ‘benami’ Brezza Car. Bagh also possessed 84 acres of land. The land included two farmhouses in Nabarangpur; one with drip irrigation and agricultural equipment, valued at Rs 1 crore, and another with drip irrigation, estimated at Rs 46,12,665. Additional properties included 11 acres of land near Bhawanipatna and a shopping complex near Nabarangpur. The arrest occurred because Bagh failed to provide adequate documentation for his assets. This investigation follows the arrest of four watershed officials in Rayagada district earlier in the year related to the misuse of funds.
