A new study from the ICMR-NIE, led by Dr. Manoj V Murhekar, has found that COVID-19 vaccines are not responsible for sudden deaths. The research, which examined a substantial number of cases and controls, found no association between the vaccine and these types of fatalities. The study even suggested that vaccination may offer protection against sudden deaths. Besides, the study identified several other risk factors, including a history of severe COVID-19, COVID-related hospitalizations, vigorous exercise shortly before death, heavy alcohol use, and a family history of sudden death.
This announcement was made in response to the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s comments regarding recent heart-related deaths in Hassan. Murhekar acknowledged the CM’s statement and noted that the ICMR study, conducted 1.5 years ago, did not find any link between COVID-19 vaccines and these incidents. He also mentioned that the Karnataka government has formed an expert committee to investigate the causes of the deaths.
