Raipur Municipal Corporation has transferred a significant number of employees from its tax collection department. An order issued by Municipal Commissioner Vishwadeep, resulted in the reshuffling of 93 officers and employees. This action follows an earlier transfer of 10 Assistant Revenue Officers. Concerns have been raised about the potential impact on tax collection efficiency, especially considering that the transferred staff possessed valuable knowledge of ward-wise geographical situations. The corporation hopes to generate substantial revenue through open plots. The recent transfers follow a period where the corporation’s property tax collection was already impacted by online user charge adjustments during May-June. The revenue target for this year has been set at over 400 crores.
