Hamas has responded positively to a 60-day ceasefire proposal in Gaza, marking a potential breakthrough in the ongoing conflict. The group expressed its willingness to begin talks on implementing the agreement. The US-backed proposal had been accepted by Israel prior to Hamas’s response. Some amendments were introduced by Hamas, according to sources. The proposed ceasefire terms involve the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and detainees. Israel would then withdraw from parts of northern Gaza, followed by discussions for a permanent ceasefire. The conflict has resulted in immense casualties and widespread destruction. Former US President Donald Trump expressed his support for the deal and urged Hamas to accept the terms.
