Uttar Pradesh is on high alert as Muharram and the Kanwar Yatra coincide, prompting a surge in security measures across key districts like Sambhal, Lucknow, and Moradabad. The administration is working to ensure a peaceful environment and avert any potential incidents.
Muharram processions are drawing large crowds. Police deployment is concentrated in sensitive areas, supported by drone surveillance and CCTV cameras. In Sambhal, District Magistrate Dr. Rajender Pensiya emphasized the importance of peace committee meetings, addressing community concerns. Security protocols include magistrates and police at every procession, a ‘box format’ for processions, drone monitoring, and extensive CCTV coverage. The authorities are also taking action to ban a significant number of individuals and enforcing relevant sections.
In Lucknow’s Old Lucknow, extra vigilance is in place. DCP Vishwajeet Srivastava described a comprehensive security plan, including multiple layers of protection, route management, and surveillance at key locations. The deployment includes numerous CCTV cameras, Civil Defence volunteers, and various types of drones. Close communication is maintained with religious leaders.
Moradabad’s administration is actively working to ensure a smooth and peaceful overlap of both events. District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Singh discussed the peace committee meetings and instructions. Preparations for the Kanwar Yatra route are underway, involving road improvements, camera installations, and measures to control noise levels.
