The Dhanbad division of the railway is set to install an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) on the Dhanbad-Gaya Grand Chord section to safeguard against train accidents and protect elephants. This system will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect elephants near railway tracks. Upon detection, the control room and the train’s loco pilot will be immediately alerted, allowing trains to be stopped or operated cautiously. The project involves laying OFC cables and installing sensors. The system will cover the Chichaki-Hazaribag Road and Keswari-Chaube sections, spanning about 40 kilometers. The entire project is expected to be completed within six months from the date of awarding the tender, with a total estimated cost of ₹4.83 crore. Centralized monitoring will be conducted from Dhanbad, with Hazaribag having control access.
