Former President Donald Trump announced plans to reveal trade tariffs affecting at least seven countries, with further announcements scheduled for Wednesday. This follows a previous announcement of reciprocal tariffs applied to 14 countries, with a deadline of August 1, 2025. Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, indicating the first list would be released in the morning, with more details in the afternoon. The tariffs were communicated through letters sent to the involved countries. Initially, letters were sent to Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol, followed by letters to Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Myanmar, and Laos. Subsequently, letters were also sent to leaders of Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tunisia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Cambodia. The tariffs vary in percentage, with Japan and South Korea facing a 25% tariff, Thailand and Cambodia at 36%, Bangladesh and Serbia at 35%, Malaysia and Kazakhstan at 25%, Myanmar and Laos at 40%, Indonesia at 32%, South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina at 30%, and Tunisia at 25%. Trump said he would consider adjustments to the August 1, 2025 deadline if the countries affected propose alternatives.
