The Kashmir Valley has seen an end to its heatwave, thanks to recent rainfall. This has lowered temperatures, but has also brought challenges in the form of cloudbursts and subsequent flash floods. Anantnag district’s Mantipora Chattergul saw homes inundated after a cloudburst triggered a flash flood. The heavy rains have also impacted Budgam district, causing widespread waterlogging and damage. Residents have voiced concerns about the lack of official support and action. The meteorological department anticipates more unsettled weather in the coming days, including the possibility of additional flash floods. Authorities have issued warnings, particularly for those in vulnerable areas, including pilgrims.
