The Indian Army has commenced ‘Operation SHIVA 2025,’ an annual security initiative aimed at securing the Shri Amarnath Yatra. The security focus has been increased this year owing to the identified presence and operations of anti-Jammu and Kashmir terrorist groups. The primary aim of Operation SHIVA 2025 is to establish a secure environment for the Yatra, working in close coordination with the Civil Administration and CAPFs along the northern and southern routes. The operation sees the deployment of over 8,500 troops and incorporates advanced technical and operational capabilities, including a multi-layered counter-terrorism grid, preventive security deployments, and corridors for the Yatra’s protection. A dedicated C-UAS arrangement is in place to counter drone threats, while engineering teams are handling infrastructure improvements and disaster reduction efforts. Medical support is comprehensive, featuring advanced facilities and a large medical staff. Emergency supplies, Quick Reaction Teams, and essential equipment are also provided. Surveillance applications, such as high-resolution cameras and drone feeds, are being used to monitor the Yatra convoy movements, ensuring a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience for the pilgrims.
