The Union Sports Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, has clarified India’s approach to sports relations with Pakistan. India will participate in international competitions with Pakistan, such as the Asia Cup, but will not engage in bilateral series. This policy reflects India’s concerns regarding cross-border terrorism. The Hockey Asia Cup 2025, set to be held in Rajgir, Bihar, could see India and Pakistan competing. The Sports Minister has stated that visas will be provided to Pakistani players. The Asia Cup serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2026 Hockey World Cup, featuring eight teams. Moreover, the National Sports Governance Bill is scheduled to be introduced in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament to promote better governance in sports.
