
President Xi Jinping of China held discussions with foreign ministers and officials from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing during their visit for the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting. Xi Jinping highlighted the SCO’s accomplishments and its adherence to the Shanghai Spirit. He stated China’s commitment to reinforcing the SCO’s role in promoting regional security, development, and a shared future for its members. Since taking on the rotating presidency, China has been actively engaged in advancing cooperation, preparing for the SCO Summit scheduled for this year. Xi expressed his eagerness to meet with other leaders at the summit in Tianjin and emphasized the SCO’s role in fostering global stability. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar from India also met with Xi Jinping, conveying greetings from Indian leaders and discussing the progression of bilateral relations. The meeting was Jaishankar’s first visit to China since the 2020 Galwan incident.
