Conflicts between criminal gangs in Jharkhand, over control of resources like sand, have intensified. A video from Ranchi’s Budhmu area shows a man, identifying himself as Bhavani Singh, issuing threats and firing a weapon. This is related to disputes over sand extraction at the Chhapar Ghat. The video contains direct threats of violence. The police have responded to the video. Ranchi SSP cum DIG Chanda Kumar Sinha confirmed that the police are investigating and will take action against the criminals involved. This follows incidents of arson in 2024, where several vehicles were set on fire at the Chhapar sand ghat, due to disputes over sand extraction and extortion.
