The Indian government has voiced its regret over the reported demolition of the ancestral home of the celebrated filmmaker and writer Satyajit Ray in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs has offered its cooperation to the Bangladeshi government for the restoration of the property. The ministry highlighted the historical importance of the building, presently owned by the Government of Bangladesh, as a symbol of Bangla cultural heritage, currently in a state of disrepair. India is advocating for its reconstruction, possibly as a museum of literature, to honor the shared cultural roots of India and Bangladesh. Satyajit Ray’s body of work, encompassing films, writing, and other artistic endeavors, has left an indelible mark on both Indian and global culture.
