
Raipur, July 16, 2025/ Ranjita Koreti, a girl from Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, has illuminated the name of India and Chhattisgarh at the international level by winning a gold medal in the Asian Cadet Judo Championship held in Taipei (Taiwan). Ranjita, from the Chhattisgarh State Child Welfare Council Balgrah Balika Kondagaon, achieved this historic feat by defeating players from many countries.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, while congratulating Ranjita on this glorious achievement, said that this is a moment of immense pride not only for Kondagaon district but for the entire state of Chhattisgarh. He said that daughters like Ranjita are the hope of the state and an inspiration for the new generation, proving that the daughters of Chhattisgarh are now making their own identity on the global stage.
The District Child Protection Unit, Women and Child Development Department, and Balgrah Sanstha have played an important role behind Ranjita’s achievement. With continuous guidance and support, Ranjita became mentally and physically stronger. Considering her special interest in sports and excellent performance in various competitions, she was given judo training with the help of ITBP. Ranjita made an impressive start to her sports journey by performing brilliantly in the 40 kg category at the Open National Judo Tournament held in Chandigarh in 2021.
After this, in 2022, Ranjita won a bronze medal in the Open National Judo competition held in Bhopal. In 2024, she received a silver medal in the 52 kg category in the Khelo India National Judo Tournament held in Kerala. In the same year, she won a gold medal in the Khelo India Regional Judo competition held in Nashik, Maharashtra. Along with this, she repeated her superiority by again winning the gold medal in the 52 kg category in Thrissur (Kerala). In the National Open National Judo Championship held in Pune, Ranjita won a gold medal by defeating players from major states like Assam, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Delhi. She also won a gold medal in the judo championship in the Khelo India Youth Games, Patna (Bihar), and made the district and the state proud.
After continuous achievements at the national level, Ranjita also performed remarkably by representing India in international competitions. In April 2025, Ranjita secured 5th place in the 52 kg category in the Cadet European Cup 2025 held in Georgia. After this, she continued her excellent performance in the Asian Cadet Championship held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 2025. Finally, from July 12 to July 15, 2025, Ranjita won a gold medal in the Asian Cadet Judo Championship held in Taipei (Taiwan), winning a gold medal at the international level for India.
Looking at Ranjita’s inspiring journey, she was selected for the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Bhopal in January 2023, where she is currently receiving high-level judo training along with her education. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this success shows that if daughters get opportunities, resources, and proper guidance, they can reach any height. He also said that the state government is committed to empowering daughters at every level, and examples like Ranjita Koreti are symbols of the strength and potential of Chhattisgarh.
