A man lost his life in Markachcho, Koderma, after being attacked by a wild elephant. The victim, Saddam Ansari, 30, and two companions were attempting to photograph and record video of the elephant when the animal charged. Saddam fell during the ensuing chase and was then attacked by the elephant. The elephant lifted him with its trunk, threw him, and trampled him. He was severely injured and died on the way to Ranchi after being initially treated in Koderma. Earlier, the elephant had been seen in the nearby forest, damaging a motorcycle. Saddam, the family’s breadwinner, leaves behind two young children, and the incident has caused widespread fear in the village.
