Controversy has erupted after a video showed the service manager of State Bank of India (SBI) in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, hosting a liquor party inside the bank’s recently acquired office building. The video, which has gone viral, features Ashish Walkar, the SBI service manager, enjoying drinks with friends on Sunday night. The incident occurred at the SBI Margadarshi Bank office in Bijapur.
Walkar was reportedly transferred to Raipur, and the party was organized as a farewell celebration. The new building, located near the Bijapur bus stand, has not yet been occupied by the bank, with the relocation expected to commence soon.
The video shows the service manager with a glass of alcohol, along with other participants. A group of 10-12 individuals, who were visitors, were present at the office. Loud music was playing, causing annoyance to nearby residents, which prompted a local youth to record the event.
Upon questioning about the noise, the manager cited the farewell party as the reason. He explained that it was his last day before his transfer, and the celebration was meant to mark the occasion. He also mentioned that he would not be visiting Bijapur again.
As the video gained traction, reports suggest that authorities are considering taking action. However, no formal complaint has been filed with the local police station. The bank management has yet to release an official statement concerning the matter.
