Donald Trump has publicly blamed Hamas for the breakdown of ceasefire talks, thereby indicating his support for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Trump’s remarks, made before a trip to Scotland, included harsh criticism of Hamas, saying “I think they want to die, and it’s very, very bad.” He also said, “It got to be to a point where you’re gonna have to finish the job.” This represents a change from his previous statements. The administration also withdrew negotiators from talks in Doha. Trump also mentioned that his interactions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were “sort of disappointing.” Moreover, he commented on the US aid and the French President’s intention to recognize Palestine as a state.
