Patna authorities have responded swiftly to a case involving a fraudulent residential certificate issued in the name of “Dog Babu.” The Masaurhi revenue officer has been recommended for suspension, and an IT Assistant has been relieved of their duties. The District Magistrate of Patna, following an inquiry, found that both individuals were involved in the improper issuance of the certificate and recommended the suspension of the Revenue Officer. The IT Assistant was relieved for failing to properly verify the application. The government initiated an investigation after the media reported on the fake certificate. The investigation discovered that the application used the Aadhaar of a woman from Delhi and misused someone else’s identity. An FIR has been filed against the Revenue Officer, IT Manager, and the unknown applicant. The police are investigating the applicant for the misuse of someone else’s identity and illegal self-declaration. The disputed residential certificate has been canceled. Moreover, the Bihar Prashashnik Sudhar Mission Society has instructed all District Magistrates to strictly enforce the verification process available on NIC’s Service Plus platform. AI technology will be implemented to fortify the system and prevent future tampering.
