A United Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, heading to Munich, was involved in a mid-air emergency shortly after departing from Washington. The pilots issued a Mayday call due to a failure in the left engine, initiating emergency procedures. The aircraft, identified as UA108, was at an approximate altitude of 50,000 feet. Flight tracking data shows the plane remained in the air for nearly three hours following the Mayday. The crew worked closely with air traffic control to manage the situation, including fuel dumping to reduce weight for landing. The aircraft subsequently landed safely using an ILS approach. The plane was unable to taxi and was towed from the runway. There were no reported injuries. The incident is subject to further investigation.
