In a Rajya Sabha session, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed that there were no phone calls between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi from April 22 to June 16. He also stated India’s position that dialogue with Pakistan must be bilateral and that Pakistan must formally request a cessation of conflict through the DGMO. Furthermore, Jaishankar criticized the Congress party, highlighting their perceived missteps in handling the Indus Water Treaty. He referenced Jawaharlal Nehru’s 1960 statement concerning the treaty and asserted that the Modi administration has corrected the course set by Nehru regarding the Indus Water Treaty and Article 370.
