External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on Wednesday criticized the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, addressing their views on China during the Operation Sindoor debate. Jaishankar used the term “China Gurus” to describe certain members, including Jairam Ramesh, whom he accused of having a strong affinity for China. He questioned the Opposition’s knowledge of China, suggesting their understanding was derived from the Olympics. He highlighted that the close ties between Pakistan and China are already known and are being dealt with by the government. Furthermore, he criticized the Opposition for acting as if these ties had just emerged, stating they were overlooking the historical context.
Jaishankar also provided details about the communication with the US during Operation Sindoor. He said that US Vice President Vance alerted the Prime Minister about a potential Pakistani attack. India responded by disabling Pakistani air defense systems. Jaishankar also confirmed that there were no requests from global leaders to stop operations and no trade was linked to the issue. He also pointed out there were no phone calls between the Indian Prime Minister and President Trump.
