The IPL’s all-time leading wicket-taker, Yuzvendra Chahal, may be on the verge of another team change. Sources suggest that Punjab Kings (PBKS) are considering releasing the veteran leg-spinner ahead of the 2026 season, despite his performances in the 2025 season. Having spent a considerable amount on acquiring Chahal in the previous mega auction, PBKS is now reportedly looking to reshape their squad. This move could make Chahal a highly sought-after asset in the upcoming trade window or mini-auction, attracting attention from various teams needing an experienced Indian spinner.
Three teams that could potentially target Chahal are Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who lacked a dependable Indian spinner in the previous season; Rajasthan Royals (RR), who could benefit from Chahal’s experience to bolster their spin attack; and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the defending champions, who might seek to bring back a familiar and successful player. At 34, Chahal remains a valuable asset in T20 cricket. Should PBKS release him, he is likely to be a hot commodity in the IPL 2026 player market.
